An outstanding treatise on the social and spiritual progress both of nations and individuals.

The Secret of Divine Civilization is a thorough explanation of the view of the Baha'i Faith on the true nature of civilization. It contains an appealing and universal message inspiring world-mindedness and soliciting the highest human motives and attributes for the establishment of a spiritual society. Written by Abdu'l-Baha in the late nineteenth century as a letter to the rulers and people of Persia, it is still profoundly relevant today as a guide to creating a peaceful and productive world.

Abdu'l-Baha, meaning in Arabic "Servant of the Glory," was the title assumed by Abbas Effendi (1844-1921), the eldest son and appointed successor of Baha'u'llah, the Prophet and Founder of the Baha'i Faith. A prisoner since the age of nine, Abdu'l-Baha shared a lifetime of imprisonment and exile with his father at the hands of the Ottoman Empire. He spent his entire life in tireless service to, and promotion of, Baha'u'llah's teachings.
